WhatsApp has become the mobile messaging service most used by users, but it has also become the main generator of Fake News. Chains and broadcast messages with all types of content flood our mobile phones daily, so much so that we all find ourselves in the daily task of eliminating what does not interest us.

Here we teach you how to avoid this practice by silencing contacts on WhatsApp:

Before putting it into practice, you must know how to decide if you want to block or silence the user.

Alternative 1: Blocking users

This functionality, somewhat extreme, but not Therefore it is no longer effective, it was designed to prevent a user from contacting you when you do not want it. By blocking the user you will not receive absolutely any message from that person, of course if it is a family member or someone very close you will surely decide not to do it.

To block a user on WhatsApp:

  1. Search for the user on WhatsApp
  2. Click on the three vertical dots (upper right sector of the app
  3. Choose the "More" submenu
  4. Click on Block

Alternative 2: Silence users

Next we will show you how to "Silence Notifications" in WhatsApp and to do this you must follow the following steps:

  1. Search for the user in WhatsApp
  2. Click on the three vertical dots (upper right sector of the app)
  3. Click on "Silence Notifications"
  4. Choose the time that the notification silencer will last (8 hours, 1 week or 1 year)

This practice will not prevent you from receiving the content, you will still receive it but at least WhatsApp will not bother you with pop-up notices every time that user sends you something. The positive thing is that the user does not know that you silenced him.

Another important fact is that you can apply the same modality for groups, you silence him and read the messages whenever you want without interrupting your attention.

For both alternatives you can do what is called a "rollback", that is, remove the block or mute and put them in normal status.

WhatsApp will award $50,000 to combat "Fake News"
