The fight to protect the environment turns out to be increasingly important and for this, different solutions are sought. The threat of climate change, created by humans, putting their own environment at risk, is now more than urgent and actions to minimize the consequences are welcomed. It all comes down to adapting our routine with small gestures that make us more responsible and respectful of the environment. Can we work to save the planet while surfing the Internet?
The answer is Yes. And all thanks to something as simple as the greenest and most ecological search engine on the web. Ecosia.org is an online search engine created in 2009 and based in Berlin that works together with Bing and a personalized search engine from Google. The main intention of this search engine is to donate 80% of its advertising revenue to tree planting programs organized by associations such as WeForest, with whom they have been working since January 2015.
A project of one billion trees in 2025
The program has a huge initiative: to plant more than 1,000 million trees in all over the world before 2025. At the moment, the plantabillion.org project is present in Brazil, the United States and China. To stop deforestation, the organization is asking to raise 123 million dollars this year, although at the moment they only add up to a little more than 14, 16% of the total.
Currently, it is collaborating with WeForest, who have the goal of planting a wall of trees 4,300 miles long and nine miles wide east to west of the African continent. This project is known as Greening desert
Our help, that of each one of us
Every click on Ecosia helps the environment. The search engine displays advertising through Bing, with whom they have been working since 2015. Thanks to it, it obtains income from each search and each user click, distributing 80% of these to the projects. Anyone can help these projects for free.

Start collaborating with the Environment
The consequences of exploitation can be fatal for our planet. The responsibility of each person is crucial to putting an end to the systematic mistreatmentto which nature is subjected at the hands of man. The founders of Ecosia, aware of their own responsibility, measure their actions down to the millimeter and are determined to neutralize every gram of CO2 that their actions and projects emit into the atmosphere.
Together with MyClimate, a platform that helps companies and individuals to measure and offset their CO2 footprint, the green search engine has Calculating the incalculable. "The standard emissions for the online search engine industry is around 0.2 grams of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere per search," the platform highlights on its website. The commitment is to offset that footprint produced by servers, infrastructure, offices, and other devices of owners and users. How? Easy. "An acacia tree planted in Burkina Faso can assimilate about 50 kilos of CO2 from the atmosphere in its long life. Depending on the clicks on ads and the value of the search terms—keywords like "credit," "bank account," or "solar panel" are more lucrative than others and can earn up to a few dollars per click—Ecosia earns an average of 0.5 cents per search. Currently, planting a tree in Burkina Faso costs 28 cents, so approximately 56 searches allow for one new tree, thus neutralizing the emissions that these searches produce." "They generate." The organization responsible for planting trees in the African country with Ecosia's contributions is ONGOZG.be, an entity with extensive experience in reforestation in that area.
