Salta has almost two thousand public buildings including schools, health posts, police stations, delegations and offices. The interconnection of these dependencies will allow, among other things, free communications and more agile work. To carry it out, Claro will build a fiber optic network with Gpon (Passive Optical Network with Gigabit Capacity) technology. With the aim of achieving full coverage, Point-to-Point (PaP) radio links will also be connected, the design of which contemplates the geographical diversification of the province.
The work will take around 20 months to be executed in 5 stages; in April 2013, it is expected to achieve a partial implementation of 30% of the services in operation. The completion of this public work is scheduled for the end of 2013, where from that moment on the Claro firm will provide the corresponding services to the Government of the Province of Salta.
The first stage of the project contemplates connectivity in 400 organizations in Salta Capital and 80 km around it, with a partial delivery of 30 to 40% of the security and video surveillance cameras. The inauguration of a data center is planned to reinforce the current 911 system, complete Claro's infrastructure and to support the camera backup system that will have a storage capacity of approximately 400 terabytes.
