The iPad, Apple's tablet, and Android, Google's operating system, have changed the rules of the game since their launch. The iPad emerged as an innovation in an unknown field in the technological world, while Android came to conquer the mobile device market. It is not surprising that both are leaders in their field in Argentina.
Android continues to improve with each version it releases, especially with the presentation of Jelly Bean, and more and more users become fans of this operating system. Because it is open source, companies like Motorola, Sony, Samsung, HTC and other major manufacturers use it in their devices. This is one of the reasons why Android is the most used mobile operating system in the country. According to a study carried out by comScore, 56.3% of page views through mobile phones come from Android devices.
As for Apple, with its iOS operating system, it occupies second place with 10.7% of page views. Symbian, Nokia's operating system, has a 10.6% share, BlackBerry has 4.3%, and Windows Mobile is in last place with only 0.6%.
In the tablet market, the situation changes. Although the arrival of the Google tablet, called Nexus 7, is still expected, Android does not maintain its dominance and it is Apple with its famous iPad that takes first place. 78.3% of web page visits come from iPad devices. Android has a 19.5% share, while RIM, with its PlayBook, has 2.2%.
