The new operating system had been previewed at the end of March and was officially presented this Wednesday at the Google I/O conference, so that application developers can start working on this new version for when it is released, although it still does not have a date of arrival to users.
Among its features, the developers in charge of Android highlighted:
"Picture-in-picture" (PIP) function
It will allow you to manage two tasks in simultaneous, that is, it will be multitasking. Thus, for example, you can switch to WhatsApp while watching a video on YouTube, without it turning off, as happens with current versions.
Autocomplete with Google
Designed to simplify device configuration and password synchronization.
For example, if you use the web version of Twitter from Chrome and then switch to the phone, when using the application it will recognize the user and automatically complete the username and password, to avoid process.
Smart text selection
On the other hand, Android O will have a "Smart text selection" function: when copying a text, the system will recognize if what is selected is an address, a URL, a phone number or an email address.
Then, depending on the entity of the selected text, the system will offer different options (such as opening on a map or calling, among others).
A version for low-end devices
One of the obstacles that the future version of the operating system will seek to solve is the connectivity limitation that exists in many countries, in addition to the fact that the price of smartphones in various places is an access barrier, which is why there will be a version called Android Go seeks to be an experience for high-end phones low.
Kotlin for developers
One of the developments most applauded by the thousands of developers waiting for the news in the Mountain View amphitheater was the announcement of the launch of "Kotlin", the new exclusive programming language for Android, which "makes the work of developers more productive", as announced.
