This afternoon the General Directorate of Technology and Systems, of the Ministry of Finance, will participate in a meeting promoted by the Argentine Internet Chamber (CABASE) to begin working on the installation of a Data Transfer Node in the city of Salta.
The meeting to which Internet provider companies, ISPs, academic institutions, government agencies, media are invited communication and telecommunications cooperatives will be held today at 3:30 p.m. at the Faculty of Engineering of the Catholic University in Campo Castañares.
This is the first meeting held in Salta, to begin discussing the issue of the installation of this telecommunications node. The provincial government is a key link in the future development of this space, since it would become the agent that connects and energizes the participation of the participating organizations. The invitation to the event is extended to all agents interested in participating in this experience.
Benefits of the Data Transfer Node
This data exchange node or NAPS is designed to improve the internet service, through greater accessibility of this resource for those who distribute it. If this node were created, the possibility of having quality internet service throughout the province would be increased, covering locations where this service is scarce today.
It would also allow the agents providing this service and organizations linked to the field to network, sharing useful information, and lowering the operating costs involved in bringing the internet mainly to the interior of the province.
The meeting will inform about the technology used for the development of these nodes, its benefits and the good results obtained in other cities in the country where these nodes are operating. Cities such as Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Mendoza and Rosario already have these information centers.
