The company Neuralink, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, implanted the first brain chip in a human being. It is a product called Telepathy, which promises to control electronic devices just with thought.

The first users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs, clarified the owner of the space travel firm SpaceX.

According to Elon Musk, referring to the functions of Telepathy, he said that the brain chip "allows you to control your phone or computer, and through them almost any device, just by thinking."

And he added that "The first human being to receive the Neuralink implant is recovering well. Initial results show promising detection of neural spikes."

"The initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs.

What is Neuralink and what are its objectives?

Neuralink aims to focus on quadriplegics with spinal cord injuries or people who have suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) for at least a year.

Those selected had to be over 22 years old and have continuous access to a nurse or caregiver. They would be rewarded with financial support to travel to the sites where the clinical trials would be conducted during the 18 months of the first phase.

The greatest reward, however, would be a radical change in their lives brought about by a chip implanted in the part of the brain that controls the intention to move. The semiconductor records neuronal activity through 1024 electrodes distributed across 64 wires, each thinner than a human hair.
