The arrival of Chrome put an end to the slow battle for dominance that Internet Explorer and Firefox had.
Its speed and simplicity immediately attracted users, something that changed over the years as Google's browser became a headache due to the amount of resources it consumed.
Google assured that the days of Chrome consuming all available RAM are over.
Chrome version 45 "includes many improvements to make better browsing and use less RAM and battery," the company said on its blog.
The option to relaunch closed Chrome tabs will now be smarter, reopening the most visited ones first and then the least visited ones in order to offer the most prominent content first.
The browser will also detect if the computer is using too many RAM resources and will stop restoring tabs to prevent the computer from becoming very slow.
On the other hand, Chrome will now be able to detect if a web page is not available. busy with some task, using a technique to clear unused memory. In practice, Google said, the RAM used by each site is reduced by 10%. "In more complex web applications, the effect is more dramatic. With Gmail, for example, we managed to free up about a quarter of the memory used by the tab," he noted.
Finally, Chrome will also declare war on Flash. After Google stopped showing ads in that format, the browser will pause Flash content that is not central to the operation of a website.
This measure, which will save 15% of battery life depending on the device's operating system, will be launched in the coming days.
