Business chambers want to propose to the national and provincial governments different proposals to be able to legally regulate the home office so that its continuity can be ensured beyond the extension of the coronavirus pandemic.
The draft proposals of different legal advisors that circulate among employers, such as: the Chamber of Commerce and Services, CAC, and in the CAME, among others, maintain that the regulations on teleworking continue to be "a pending issue" that must be addressed to correct "deficiencies and weaknesses in the labor market."
One of these preliminary documents, from the law firm García, Pérez, Boiani & Asociados, highlights that within the formal or structured sector of the labor market, "deep differences" still appear in remote work practices, through the use of information and technology technologies. communication.
According to this approach, in the face of social, preventive and mandatory isolation, some "islands of modernity" are observed in companies, where digitalization and technology "trace a virtuous path towards the industrial revolution 4.0, almost without stops," Télam was able to find out.
In other cases, the expansion of this type of work modality "is slowed down by the low level of investment, the lack of growth and the uncertainty about the future direction of Argentina," agreement with company lawyers.
The advisory firms warn in this regard that "there is no legislation that regulates and/or promotes teleworking, remote work or home office", nor is there "homogeneous connectivity that reaches all latitudes of the national territory, which causes productivity and even educational gaps."
Among the promoters is the Argentine Chamber of Medium Enterprises, which highlights that this practice allows "adding value to products and services, increase income, enter new markets, reduce costs and optimize resources in general."
In the same vein, the CAC scheduled for Wednesday a web conference on: "Teleworking: how to generate productivity in virtual teams", aimed at companies seeking to adapt to the new context, which detaches information from a physical place to place it on any device and gives rise to new ways of organizing work.
Studies on new work modalities highlight that the pandemic revealed the necessary flexibility and adaptation required to respond to such a challenge.
This extreme crisis shows us that continuing to ignore these pending issues contributes to a lack of protection, fails to stimulate job creation, and even accelerates the rate of job losses, legal advisors warned.
In this regard, they contrasted examples of companies that were able to respond quickly to the epidemiological challenge with those where, in terms of teleworking conditions, greater rigidity and a lack of flexibility to adapt to the changing scenario became evident.
