As has been observed in recent times, Internet Explorer widely lost the monopoly ground that it had monopolized for years. Despite the company's efforts to sustain it, it was clear that the battle was lost. The truth is that the penetration of other web browsers such as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox to a lesser extent, managed to dethrone what perhaps became one of the most used software in history.
It is correct to say that Chrome, Firefox and other browsers have done enough merit to win over their audience by providing technology, stability and speed. In particular, I think that Internet Explorer did not rise to the occasion, perhaps due to overconfidence and, why not, a bit of arrogance on the part of the creators, failing to remain at the top of web browsers. Version after version, it seemed to have no significant advances: many security problems, slow, unstable, somewhat rustic interface and worst of all; although most common users did not see; is that it did not respect many of the international standards of browsers, like its navigation brothers.
In short, I will never be able to understand, how a software that, having a total monopoly thanks to its imposition on the operating system, is exterminated in this way.
The decision
Microsoft's Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Capossela, last Monday, confirmed that they are eliminating Internet Explorer because it has been surpassed. It is very clear that Microsoft was not going to lose that segment, as expected, they are developing a new browser which they will call SPARTAN, we hope that Microsoft will put batteries into it and this browser will comply with all standards. We web developers will be very grateful and of course the users too.
For fans of Internet Explorer, don't worry, you will continue to see it for at least another year.
