Alphabet, Google's new business organization, is working on YouTube Unplugged, a service that will put television content through its video platform. The directors would already be in negotiations with the main US networks such as Comcast Corp.'s NBCUniversal, Twenty-First Century Fox Inc., and CBS Corp., among others.
According to data it will arrive in 2017 and the price remains an unknown, but it is rumored that it will be much lower than what the current cable or satellite TV packages cost. YouTube has been working to introduce online cable television since 2012, and appears to be reaching the final stages.
With the growing demand for paid internet services, it is not at all unreasonable to think that Google's project will be a resounding success, even more so if we take into account the advantages of YouTube as a platform.
Of course, it goes without saying that YouTube Unplugged is not has the way clear, today they are Netflix the most popular in the region, HBO Go, Hulu, each with their already established platforms and attracting new customers. The advantages are many, both for companies and also for users, and we will have to wait a year to see how the internet giant develops in a market that is quite difficult to enter users' homes.
Although these types of services lack newscasts and sporting events, the balance is very positive since in terms of entertainment, it is superior to current business models. People are leaving behind cable or satellite television for different reasons: little time, poor visual quality, unattractive content, commercial breaks, among other reasons.
