The head of the Federal Public Revenue Administration referred directly to platforms such as Netflix and Spotify and assured that they will begin to pay taxes like the rest of the services.
Although Abad did not specify when and how much the tax will be, it is expected to be in the coming weeks, arguing that "A cable channel pays taxes, but a movie site does not. The idea is that, when the user pays for the service, the credit card acts as a withholding agent for a percentage of the payment."
"There are already countries in Latin America where Netflix already pays taxes," he specified. The same thing happens with Spotify, the platform that offers music. From this context, it is unknown, so far, whether or not the company will decide to transfer the value to the cost that users pay for the service.
Uber would also be in the crosshairs, although as it is considered illegal there is still a cloud of doubts about it.
