Amazon is evaluating its arrival in Argentina, Brazil and Chile in 2013, as announced by the content director of the firm's Kindle device, Pedro Huerta, during the Book Fair of the trans-Andean country.

The company led by Jeff Bezos made its first foray outside the United States a few months ago when it opened its first online store in Spain.

The arrival in Argentina, Brazil and Chile would take place in a period of no more than 18 months, according to anticipated the executive, quoted by Infobae.com.

However, Huerta did not specify the scope or the types of products that Amazon will market on the regional platform.

A few days ago, Citigroup's research department announced that the company would have plans to develop its first smartphone that would hit the market in 2012.

This initiative would be a product of the success of its new tablet, Kindle Fire.
