Twitter is doing an experiment with its timeline that worries many of its users.
For many of them, the most attractive thing about the microblogging network is that the information appears in chronological order. There you find the most recent, what just happened.
However, now Twitter is trying to organize its tweets according to relevance and not by publication date, just as Facebook does.
The information was confirmed by a company spokesperson through a statement. "This is an experiment," he said. "We are continually exploring different ways to highlight the best content for Twitter users."
But the test of a non-chronological timeline has caused a stir among users who have heard the news. Many have even threatened to leave the social network.
Since the arrival of company co-founder Jack Dorsey to the position of CEO, Twitter has experimented with some changes to try to increase the number of followers and its profits.
After his appointment in early October, Dorsey acknowledged that the operation of the social network is too complicated for people. And that its strategy would involve creating tools that make it manageable.
The company had already introduced the "while you were away" function, which inserts some tweets in your timeline that were made while you were not connected, and that Twitter believes may be of interest to you.
But completely modifying the way in which it displays its content is something that many consider too radical a change that goes against the nature of that social network.
