The initiative responds to the increase in the number of photos or videos shared on Instagram, Periscope or Instagram itself Snapchat, while the 1.6 billion that Facebook has do so less and less from the platform created by Mark Zuckerberg. The goal? Avoid leakage to other networks.

According to the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal, 21% fewer messages and images were shared through Facebook in 2015. To reduce the loss of users, it will design an app similar to Snapchat, with the difference that its content would not disappear after a few hours, but could be shared through Instagram or the popular social network.

The application would be developed by the engineering team in London and would be capable of streaming video through Facebook Live, the format that Zuckerberg developed and which was launched at the end of January to compete with the "Periscope" of Twitter.

Snapchat

Snapchat, constantly rising due to the expansion of its alliances with media companies, sports leagues and other live event distributors, with an audience estimated at 100 million daily users; compared to Facebook's 1 billion; continues to put the social media giant in trouble. Let us remember that in April 2015, Snapchat was the third most used application among young people between 13 and 17 years old and not for nothing, Facebook tried to buy it for US$3,000 million in 2013, obtaining a resounding NO.

Persicope

Periscope, is the live video application owned by Twitter, with more than 1.6 billion followers, it allows users to broadcast live video to their friends and strangers. Most everyday broadcasts consist of insights into users' lives. However, the app has also proven to be useful when there is breaking news.

Periscope broadcasts can be shared via Twitter, making them available to a wider audience.

Conclusion

An epic battle for dominance in live streaming has begun. None of the three want to give an inch and they e going all out. Buying apps, improving their software, and even renewing staff, the truth is that users will decide the future of these applications, and we'll soon see what they decide.
