Videos are already a fundamental part of Facebook, which started a new competition against Google by adding functions that seek to dethrone YouTube as the main video site.
Available for now to a few iPhone users, the social network application added a videos tab, which will function like the current News Feed, Facebook said.
The user will be able to slide down the screen or the sides to see videos from friends and pages they follow, as well as those suggested by the system.
On iPhone, the Videos section will appear at the bottom of the app screen. On the web, when it is available, it can be found among the Favorites, in the task bar in the left sector of the News Feed.
The similarities with the YouTube application find their maximum point with two features:
- Facebook will also allow you to view videos picture in picture, that is, shrink the video screen and "take it" to another section of the application
- The videos can also be saved with the aim of viewing them later.
The social network will continue testing iPhone among users around the world. The goal, still undated, is to extend these functions to Android devices.
