Although the regulations were already stipulated, the company announced that policies restricting use by minors will be strengthened.
The announcement to strengthen its policy for minors comes after the publication of a documentary in the United Kingdom, made by Channel 4 and Firecrest Films, in which it was revealed that during some training sessions in Dublin, Ireland, reviewers were asked to ignore users who appeared to be under 13 years old to avoid blocking a profile.
Until now they only investigated one account upon receiving a complaint from a user who had to specifically indicate that it belonged to a minor. However, now the reviewers may suspend the profile if they have any indication that the user is a minor and even if it was reported for another reason.
When the company receives these reports or suspects a user, the moderators are in charge of reviewing the content of their profile, the texts and photos, in order to try to determine their age.
In a statement on its official blog, the company highlighted that Facebook has teams from different companies in the world that review the reports. 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in all time zones and in dozens of languages.
How to validate or recover your account?
If the user wants to recover their account once it has been blocked, they must send proof, such as a copy of their photo ID, that certifies they meet the requirement.
