The Government of the Province created the Cybersecurity Program, an area through which the creation and adoption of a specific regulatory framework that promotes the identification and protection of strategic and critical infrastructures of the provincial public sector, interjurisdictional organizations and civil and private sector organizations will be promoted.
In this way, Salta is one of the first provinces to have a specific area on the subject, positioning itself at the national level to continue working together with the Undersecretary of Infrastructure Criticism and Cybersecurity belonging to the Head of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nation.
The Cybersecurity Program was created on October 23 by provincial Decree and depends on the General Directorate of Information Technology of the Undersecretary of Projects and Systems of the Secretariat of Public Service dependent on the General Secretariat of the Interior.
In this regard, the Undersecretary of Projects and Systems, Marcos Kabala highlighted that "the main objective of This program is for there to be a Projects and Systems sector that is specifically dedicated to hosting and taking care of all the information in the technological infrastructure of the Government of Salta so that it is not violated. "We have also been carrying out joint work with the Undersecretary of Critical Information Infrastructure and Cybersecurity of the Nation, which provides us with greater tools, infrastructure and knowledge on the subject."
Finally, the official stated that this initiative seeks to collaborate with the private sector in the development of policies to safeguard digital security; manage information on reports of security incidents in the provincial Public Sector and their notification to national organizations in charge of the matter; establish priorities and strategic plans to lead the approach to cybersecurity; research new technologies and tools in computer security; advise organizations on tools and techniques to protect and defend their information systems; among others.
On the other hand, the general director of Information Technology, Juan Pablo Morellano highlighted that although the province's information was always taken care of by the Projects and Systems area, "with the creation of the Cybersecurity program, a regulatory framework will be given to this task of protecting the security of information, also covering decentralized State organizations that have data systems susceptible to being violated, such as SAETA, AMT and Aguas del Norte."
"Although this program is already in operation, we are now in the stage of defining how it will relate to the different security actors, a framework in which State agencies, societies and companies interact. We are in the stage of developing the specific functions and missions and defining the implementation plan of the different activities that will be carried out, a task that also involves greater technology, education and training," he concluded.
